Home-improvement contractors are optimistic that 2015 will be a good year for the remodeling industry, according to an Angie’s List survey.

In the survey of 1,000 contractors, 62% said at least half of their customers are planning to spend more on home improvements than they did last year. Half said their clients will spend $5,000 more, and another 17% said their customers are willing to spend $15,000 more.

In addition, the contractors said they expect to get more requests for higher-end products and more luxurious bathrooms and kitchens.
Dive Insight:
The survey offered some clues about where homeowners will want to spend their remodeling dollars this year. Most of the contractors’ clients said they wanted to remodel kitchens and bathrooms, enlarge closets and pantries, and improve lighting in their homes. Others said this is the year to replace older appliances with stainless steel models, to rip out carpet and lay wood floors, and to focus on energy efficiency, especially in lighting.
