Dive Brief:
-
The nonprofit education foundation NCCER (formerly the National Center for Construction Education and Research) has declared October as Careers in Construction Month.
-
Through its Build Your Future initiative, the organization is calling for construction industry groups to partner with educators to host career fairs and workshops; to reach out to military veterans who might want to transition into jobs in building; and to ask state legislators to pass proclamations recognizing the month.
-
NCCER is offering online resources, including guides for planning and best practices; posters and brochures; and a calendar with free listings of local events. The group also will run a video series in October that features the kind of lifestyle a construction pro can look forward. Preview the video here.
