In a daring rescue, two Singapore construction workers saved a toddler who was dangling from a second-story window in a public housing apartment building last week.

The Straits Times reported that the crying 3-year-old girl was dangling feet-first from the unit’s balcony. Two men tried to shimmy up the side of the building without success as others knocked on the apartment's front door, which no one answered.

The newspaper reported that the construction crew members, who were working on a nearby road, climbed up the side of the building. One of them hoisted himself up to the balcony, reached the child, and held her safely until firefighters arrived and used a ladder to lower her to the ground.
Dive Insight:
The hard-hat heroes reportedly will receive a Singapore Civil Defence Force Public Spiritedness Award for their effort. There has been no word yet on how the toddler got into the dangerous situation or whether her parents will be charged with any crime.
