Dive Brief:
-
Construction workers in Germany took some heat this week for a swastika-shaped design in the brick sidewalk they laid in historic Goslar.
-
The mayor accepted repeated apologies from the construction firm’s owner, who said the laborers did not intentionally place the bricks on the public sidewalk in the pattern of the Nazi emblem. The workers said the seven red bricks that formed the swastika on an otherwise gray section of the sidewalk were randomly placed.
-
The city removed the red bricks after pedestrians alerted police about the image on the public sidewalk in a shopping area.
