Construction workers are earning less than they did a year ago—about $16 less, to be exact.

A new report by human resources provider TriNet found that first-quarter salaries in 2014 averaged $45,417. Florida and Texas boast the highest construction-industry salaries, followed by North Carolina, Arizona, California, and Georgia.

The analysis also found the most demand for installation technicians, plumbers, and engineers.

The study also revealed that the earnings of women in construction equal 92% of the wages of their male colleagues. That salary gap is smaller than the national average of 83% across most industries.
