A couple and their infant son died on Highway 410 in Bonney Lake, WA, near Tacoma when a slab from a concrete barrier fell from an overpass and crushed the truck they were riding in. Police said they do not know why the heavy slab fell from a site where a construction crew was building a pedestrian walkway.

Last month, a pedestrian died in New York City when a wind gust sent a 4-by-8 foot plywood board from a jobsite barrier hurling into her.

Just last week, another freak construction accident in Washington state killed a homeowner when a wall of his house fell on top of him. The state Department of Labor & Industries said it would not investigate last week’s death, but was on the site of Monday’s accident in Washington shortly after it occurred.
